Pamnani Group Announces Setting Up of Charitable Medical Trust.

Raj and Sanjeev Pamnani, founders of the Pamnani Group, which has diversified investments in food processing, restaurants, real estate, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and consulting services, are pleased to announce the setting up of the Pamnani Charitable Medical Trust, in memory of their grand uncle, the late Hassaram Pamnani, freedom fighter and the Congress party MLA from Sindh Province. (Undivided India, present day Pakistan).

The Pamnani Charitable Medical Trust intends to provide medical related financial assistance to the needy and underprivileged, with special emphasis on the elderly citizens of the Sindhi community. The Pamnani Group intends to fund the Trust with donations from family and friends.

Raj Pamnani said "The Trust will be formed in Mumbai, India, with an initial corpus equivalent to USD 250,000 and I expect it to grow to above USD 2 Million within a year". Sanjeev Pamnani added “We are pleased that an eminent dentist, Dr. Sanjay K. Ramani, has kindly accepted to be a Trustee. I expect great support from our family, friends and our well wishers from the Sindhi community in this noble endeavor".

About Hassaram Pamnani, MLA
Hassaram Pamnani, born in Rohri, Sindh, (Undivided India, present day Pakistan), was a double graduate of the Bombay University. He was a freedom fighter, member of AICC (All India Congress Committee) and became an elected MLA (Member of the First Legislative Assembly of Sindh, 1937), on a Congress party ticket. After a few years, Hassaram Pamnani, still a sitting MLA, was assassinated, in cold blood, at Rohri Station. The CWC (Congress Working Committee), in a resolution expressed their deep sorrow and indignation at this brutal murder and offered their condolences. The killers were never traced. Raj and Sanjeev Pamnani are the grand nephews of Hassaram Pamnani, MLA.

Raj Pamnani has worked with leading venture capital and financial institutions, including, Josephthal & Co., Citibank (Private Bank) in Singapore, and Merrill Lynch, where his responsibilities included structuring and implementing investments for offshore investment funds and assisting companies in operational and strategic planning. He has great experience in negotiating and structuring private equity transactions. He is currently a Director with a publicly listed life sciences company, in the USA. He has an M.B.A from Hofstra University, NY, USA.

Sanjeev Pamnani, for the past 17 years, has been a Director in various public and private Indian companies, including Samanthas Restaurants (India), Panam Pharma, Pamnani Foods. He, also, offers business consulting services to multi-national companies interested in entering the Indian market. He has B.S (Computer Science) and a M.B.A (Information Systems / Finance) from Pace University, NY, USA.


Raj and Sanjeev Pamnani have also been credited with being the first to bring an American fast food chain (Shakey’s Pizza) to India and they have been featured and mentioned in various international television shows, magazines and newspapers, including CNN, the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
